Postpartum rage is defined as an overwhelming amount of rage that receives very little attention, yet it is a common symptom of postpartum depression and anxiety.
Postpartum rage can occur during changes in sleep routines and patterns. (It’s common in the months following birth and early years of parenthood).
Some of the causes of postpartum rage may be:
- You are stressed out.
- You feel burnt out.
- You don’t feel appreciated.
- You feel like you don’t have support.
- You resent your partner.
- You feel very isolated or lonely.
- You have mommy guilt.
- You are going through a difficult adjustment: (breastfeeding, colic, etc.)
Some examples of postpartum rage might be a baby crying in the car, a load of dirty dishes that your partner forgot to load into the dishwasher, etc.
Some of the ways that might help you:
- Getting enough Vitamin D (outside sunlight).
- Deep breathing and exercises.
- Try to get some sleep/rest (ask for help).
- Eating enough protein at every meal and avoiding sugar as much as possible.
- Do something you love.
- Avoid long exposure to blue light, such as cell phones or computer screens.
- Join a mom group for support.
