And rightfully so, self love is an important component of our life. Without a healthy dose of self love it is almost impossible for us to find any sort of peace or happiness. Because peace and happiness comes from within. But thanks to capitalism, a lot of people have started associating self love with the shopping of cutesy aesthetic stuff or spending copious amounts of money on trips, clothes and meals.

What is even considered to be self love?
According to Brain and Behaviour Research Foundation,
"Self-love is a state of appreciation for oneself that grows from actions that support our physical, psychological and spiritual growth."
Now, no matter how much we're willing to spend it's a no brainer that we can't buy sense of appreciation. Since it's comes with spending quality time with oneself. You can always pick-up a hobby and commit to it without striving to excel. Yes, that is different because we rarely do things without willing to excel at them. But if your hobby requires you to stress, obsess and overwork, is it really a hobby?
Appreciation comes when we accept things in their natural form and embrace them. This realisation doesn't require you to sit under the bodhi tree for 49 days. All it takes is knowing what you aren't good at and being okay with it. Slowly and surely you'll reach a point where you naturally see the good in things.
So, this year weather you pick up the paint brush, start the YouTube channel or post your first blog. Don't do it to excel at it, do it because you appreciate and enjoy it.
That will be your very first act of self love.
