All the parents relate to this. By identifying your child’s behaviour triggers and implementing a plan to address them, you can give your child the skills she needs to better manage her behaviour. You can try some of these hacks:
- Breathe
Child meltdowns can create a lot of tension in your body. Sometimes deep breathing helps release them.
- Eye contact
Making eye contact with your child brings both of you to the same level. As humans, we crave connections that can instantly calm the nervous system.
- Do something for yourself
Order an ice cream/coffee, or do something for yourself to relax your mind. Once you do something for yourself your mind automatically feels better equipped to handle such tantrums.
- Visualise
Keep reminding yourself that they are kids who have valid emotions and you can handle whatever comes your way.
- Reflect
Reflect and tune into what your little one needs. If I acted like this how would my parents behave and how do I want to behave?
