The perfect parent trope has to die. Here's why!

Being a parent is not easy, especially when everything you do can impact your child so deeply.

Sometimes this pressure of parenting doesn't even let parents be authentic. You need to understand that you are a person before being a parent. This is why pressurizing yourself to become someone perfect would ultimately lead you to lose yourself.

People who lose themselves find it very difficult to understand what exactly they want from life. This leads them to have really unrealistic standards about everything around them. Sometimes this is the reason that many parents don't even realise when they are being emotionally abusive to their kids. Raising a family is definitely not easy. Yes, your actions do have an impact on a larger scale. But all of this doesn't translate into you losing yourself. In fact if parents are not themselves then how can they teach their kids honesty.

If you want to create a safe space with your child. Where they express themselves confidently in front of you. Then you should be you  unapologetically. There can be things in your personality that you would want to alter. But the best gift you can give to your child is the gift of authenticity and fearlessness.
