Early labor 101: what to do

Early labor is the beginning of the first stage of labor.

The first stage of labor is divided into 3 phases: the early phase of labor is the longest.

Early labor is the one part of labor that you can just move through without a lot of trouble. However, the key to that is to not pay it too much attention until…well, you have to.

Tips for early labor:

  • Rest when you can
  • Do your normal things
  • Find ways to distract
  • Don’t time the contractions
  • Sit on your ball and rolls those hips around
  • Do some stair climbing
  • Squat, squat, and more squats
  • Get some last-minute hanky panky going. Don’t forget you can’t right after birth. It is also a great labor help. But don’t if your water is broken or you’ve been told nothing in the vagina
  • Eat and drink
  • Finish packing and have someone load it into the car. Make sure the car seat is also in the car.
  • Go for a walk
  • Hydrotherapy is wonderful
