The first stage of labor is divided into 3 phases: the early phase of labor is the longest.
Early labor is the one part of labor that you can just move through without a lot of trouble. However, the key to that is to not pay it too much attention until…well, you have to.
Tips for early labor:
- Rest when you can
- Do your normal things
- Find ways to distract
- Don’t time the contractions
- Sit on your ball and rolls those hips around
- Do some stair climbing
- Squat, squat, and more squats
- Get some last-minute hanky panky going. Don’t forget you can’t right after birth. It is also a great labor help. But don’t if your water is broken or you’ve been told nothing in the vagina
- Eat and drink
- Finish packing and have someone load it into the car. Make sure the car seat is also in the car.
- Go for a walk
- Hydrotherapy is wonderful
