This isn’t too hard for most of you. But if you find yourself quiet and not chatting with your newborn.
Then get busy and change your ways.
Experts all agree talking to your newborn is CRITICAL!
Babies whose parents talk and read to them from the start score higher on language tests later in life.
Here are some tips:
- Start while the baby is in your womb
- Talking with the baby develops conversational skills they use later in life
- The baby will learn body language and read cues
- Sing-songy voice is best
- Babies whose parents speak in a sing-songy voice learn new words better because music and melodies are enormous tools for speech development
- Talk, then listen to baby, then respond (it might be grunts or groans, but that’s okay!)
