There is a wide range of normal for when your baby will begin sitting.
- Approximately 50% of babies can sit independently by 6 months of age.

What can you do to help get your baby ready for sitting up?
- Provide plenty of tummy time.
- Allow your baby time to play on the floor.
- Sit your baby up between your legs, on the floor while you read a short book to them.
Sitting independently usually comes after your baby learns to roll and before your baby crawls.
Many babies will do tripod sitting first. This is when they place their hands on the floor to support their hands on the floor to support their upper bodies in a more upright position.
