Music and sleep among infants

Enjoy a fuss-free bedtime routine with your little one.

All new parents want their newborns to get the proper amount of sleep. Not just because it helps them to get some much-needed rest when their babies sleep, but because they understand that sleep is essential for the healthy development of their little ones.

If your infant is having trouble falling asleep or sleeping through the night consider introducing baby music into your baby’s bedtime routine.

Just as listening to a different type of music or sounds such as that of an ocean or a thunderstorm, certain sounds can soothe a baby’s brain and put them in a peaceful state.

One of the music that is mostly preferred for infants is lullaby music because it is specifically designed to promote a sense of comfort and familiarity in children. Lullaby is mainly beneficial when you’re helping your infant unwind and drift off into a deep sleep or when you’re training your child to sleep independently from co-sleeping.

Be aware of one thing not all lullaby music is ideal for bedtime. Choose a collection of lullabies with soothing instruments and background ambiance for your baby’s sleep that won’t overstimulate your baby’s brain.

Another amazing choice for bedtime is to prefer classical music which does not contain any kind of lyrics, as it can be distracting and overwhelming for a baby’s brain. Classical music contains soothing, gentle instruments and tones, and it is a long-held belief that classical music can help in boosting a baby’s brain development both inside and outside the womb.
