What matters most when raising a self-confident child

Being mindful of your words, they are powerful

Did you know that when you are mindful of your daily interactions with your child you nurture their self-confidence?

The most simple interactions that happen during the day, the words you speak, your tone of voice, either leaves your child feeling valued or not. When a child doesn’t feel valued they will easily doubt themselves and their ability to overcome challenges.

Words are powerful, and for your child, your words are very powerful.

Your words deeply affect how your child feels about themselves and you! Every day, your child internalizes the words they hear from you and these words can either help to build them up or break them down. With your words, you can deeply empower your child and this grows their self-confidence and their emotional health.

Listening to what your child wants to tell you is just as important. When you do you empower them in knowing that their voice and what they want to say is valued.

Reflect on daily interactions that you have with your child and those moments where you can gently nurture them so self-confidence grows.

Notice what you would like to change in yourself so that you model confidence.

Reflect on your level of self-confidence. To be an example for your child you’ll need to check in on your level of self-confidence.

Reflect on what’s holding you back, what the blocks are and what you can do to boost your self-confidence.

Remember, your confidence plays an important role in building your child’s self-confidence.
